One thing I wished I had as a host when my career started was somebody to give me honest feedback and critiques on my work, point me to where to find jobs, how to network, and ways to make the most money. I didn’t have that. But now I *am* that.
I’ve always believed in paying it forward to the next generation, and that’s why I’ve launched Mike Janela Media, a coaching subsidiary of my media work. While I’m still actively hosting and pursuing my established career on-camera, I want to help aspiring hosts get on the track they want for their careers.
And so over at MikeJanelaMedia.com, I’ve collected a number of resources to offer anybody looking to improve their hosting journey:
- 1-on-1 Coaching: working individually in live sessions with a talent to offer personal and customized feedback on any parts of their professional life they want help with
- Feedback and Critiques: hosting reels, on-air samples, resumes, websites. If you need somebody to shoot straight and tell you where you can get better, I’m the guy to provide personalized analysis of your technique or materials
- The 10-Step Talent Toolkit: an on-demand course consisting of 10 lessons with all the best advice I’ve learned in my career. Covers everything from improving your delivery to where to find jobs to networking best practices to creating your own content and maximizing your earnings
- Expert Interviews: a series of MasterClass-like conversations with other successful hosts in the industry, each explaining how to succeed in their area of expertise
I know what it’s like to be in the shoes feeling like everybody else in this industry knows something you don’t. As a hosting coach, I want to bring everyone up on stage. Because when one of us gets better, we all get better. That was corny. But I mean it.
